Buguda: A man allegedly killed his deceased daughter’s mother-in-law at Annapurna Sahi under Buguda police limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district last evening.
According to reports, Bharati Sahu, daughter of accused Padmanabha Sahu, had committed suicide on October 30, 2017 after allegedly being tortured by her in-laws over dowry demand.
Family members of the woman had lodged a police complaint in this regard alleging that she was murdered. Police had arrested Bharati’s husband Raghunath Sahu, mother-in-law Kanak Sahu, father-in-law Kabi Chandra Sahu and brother-in-law Santanu Sahu in this connection.
Padmanabha, in a bid to avenge his daughter’s death, attacked Kanak, who was recently released from jail, at her residence and killed her by slitting her throat with sharp weapon.
On being informed, police reached the spot and seized the body which was lying in a pool of blood. While Padmanabha absconded after the incident, investigation into the matter is underway.
