Dhenkanal: A man allegedly attacked his sister-in-law with knife in Kankadahada area of Odisha’s Dhenkanal district today leaving her critically injured after she rejected his marriage proposal.
According to police sources, Mamina (25) of Kantamala village, the victim, had married to Raghunath Nayak of Tarajanga village three years ago. Unfortunately, Raghunath died in a road accident a year after the marriage, following which she was staying at her father’s house.
Few days ago, Sipu Nayak, Mamina’s brother-in-law, had asked her to marry him, to which she denied. In a fit of rage, Sipu launched an attack on Mamina with a knife this morning, as a result of which she sustained grievious injuries on her back, legs and thighs.
While she was rescued and admitted to the Kamakhyanagar hospital, the accused has been detained by police for questioning.
