According to the FIR lodged in Town police station by one Lalit Majhi, a resident of Philingbahal village under Dharuadihi police station of Sundargarh who runs a grocery shop, one Mohan Kumar Bhoi had gone to his residence on 30th April and introduced himself as a state excise official. Mohan told Lalit Majhi that there are cases against him and his wife pertaining to liquor and if he pays Rs.4000/-  for both cases to him, he will get the cases dropped.

Lalit Majhi gave him Rs.4000/-. On Ist May, again Mohan went to the house of Lalit Majhi and told that the cases has been forwarded to court and for which he again demanded Rs. 8000/- from him. Lalit Majhi gave him Rs.5000/- but Mohan told him that  since there were expenses to be incurred in court on these cases, he has to pay another Rs.3500/- within the next eight days. He asked Lalit Majhi to come to his excise office at Rangadhipa and hand over the money.

On Friday, Lalit Majhi came to state excise office at Rangadipa to give Mohan Kumar Bhoi Rs.3500/. But when he enquired  in the office, he came to know that there is no one  by the name in the excise office. Having realised that he had been cheated, he lodged an FIR in Town police station.

While he was  present to complain in Town police station, Mohan Kumar Bhoi dialed on the mobile of Lalit Majhi and told him to come near Sundargarh court to give him the Rs.3500/-. When Lalit Majhi informed police about his call, the town police team led by IIC P.K.Jena went near the court. As Lalit Majhi handed over Rs.3500/- to Mohan Kumar Bhoi, the police team nabbed him.

“Accused Mohan Kumar Bhoi was arrested and forwarded to court on Friday night,” said PK Jena, IIC, Town police station, Sundargarh.
