“Violation of the order by any political party would result in stern action as per the directive of the Election Commission of India,” Nayak said while presiding over an all-party meeting at the district headquarters here on Friday.

The RO also asked party representatives to refrain from wooing the voters by offering and distributing money, which would be under the close watch of the flying squad.

If any such activities come to the notice of the flying squad, necessary action would be taken against the concerned party on the basis of its report, he cautioned.

Nayak also said steps have been taken to keep a strict vigil on sensitive and very sensitive booths.

Poll observer Sumit Haldar asked party representatives to strictly adhere to the model code of conduct violation of which would result in stern action.

Speaking on the poll expenditure in the ensuing by-election, Expenditure observer Prasanna Kumar told the representatives that each party will have a maximum expenditure limit of Rs 70 lakh.
