Cuttack: The agitating lawyers in Orissa High Court decided to continue cease work against ‘police atrocity’ during Durga Puja holidays till October 26.

The protest will continue till arrest of accused police personnel involved on attack of lawyer Debi Prasad Patnaik in Cuttack.

The move came at meeting of Orissa High Court Bar Association and Action committee held on Friday.

The cease work by the lawyers will continue during Puja holidays. The future course of action will be decided at the general meeting of the Bar Association on Oct 26, said Orissa High Court Bar Association secretary Satyabrata Mohanty.

Notably, the lawyers are on strike since August 29 demanding arrest of policemen, who allegedly attacked one lawyer at Nua Bazaar square on August 28 in Cuttack.

Taking action against the erring cops, Cuttack DCP Akhileswar Singh had suspended two Constables and a Havildar in connection with the attack on the lawyer.

The DCP had suspended Constables BK Samal and UK Bhuyan and Havildar PK Behera for ‘police excesses’.
