The Odisha Crime Branch (CB) today arrested a former additional tahesildar in the connection with the Ghangapatna land scam under Chandaka tehsil on the outskirts of the city.
The accuse, identified as Kulmani Nayak, was produced in a local court here today.
CB has slapped charges under sections 467, 468, 471, 420 and 120 B of IPC against Nayak.
Earlier CB had arrested seven people, including four government officials, in the land scam.
CB DIG Rajesh Kumar said arresting Nayak took them some days since he had been absconding for the last one month and was changing his location every other day. The accused was also changing his phone number every three days or so, he said.
“A team of CB followed Nayak’s movement for the last three days and arrested him from Baramunda area here today,” added Kumar.
