Later in the day, DPS rode on a brace by their dependable striker Dhyanendra Bhanjdeo to edge out Kalinga Bidyapitha 2-1. Bhanjadeo gave his team an early lead, hitting home with a rasping shot.
In the second half, Kalinga Bidyapitha’s repeated attacks bore fruit when Badal Swain tapped home the equaliser in the 48th minute. Swain got the opportunity when the ball slipped out of the hands of DPS goalkeeper Pratyush Mohapatra, who was trying to save a powerful shot.
However, Kalinga Bidyapitha’s valiant fightback went in vain as Bhanjadeo scored the match-winner off a penalty kick in the 52nd minute.
Bhanjdeo won the prize as the man of the match.
