Cuttack, July 16:
The Odisha government would file a counter in the arrest of Dr N Prabhakar Babu, director of Seven Hills Hospital at Visakhapanam in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh tomorrow in connection with the kidney transplantation case.
Meanwhile, a division bench of the Odisha High Court comprising Justice Indrajit Mohanty and Justice Sangam Kumar Sahu on Tuesday heard the arguments of lawyer Satyabrata Pradhan on behalf of the petitioner N Ratna Kumari, wife of Prabhakar Babu, challenging the arrest of her husband by the commissionerate police.
The bench later directed the state government to file a counter in this connection on Thursday.
It may be mentioned that the Cuttack commisssionerate police had arrested Babu on June 16 from Vishakhapatnam and later brought him to Cuttack on July 2 where he was produced in the court of the Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate that remanded him to judicial custody on July 4 after rejecting his bail plea.
However, alleging that the commissionerate police had illegally detained Babu, his wife later filed a writ petition in the High Court.
