Odisha Vigilance sleuths today conducted simultaneous raids at eight places including the residence of a junior engineer of Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BMC) on charges of amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The BMC junior engineer Kanhucharan Das’s residence at Baidyanath Nagar in the city and seven other places were raided by the anti-corruption unit officials in an alleged disproportionate assets (DA) case against him.
“Raids are being conducted at eight places including the residence of junior engineer of Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BMC) on allegations of amassing disproportionate assets to his known sources of income. Raids were conducted at hostels run by Das,” a raiding party member said.
According sources, separate teams have been formed to conduct the simultaneous raids which were being coordinated by Vigilance DCP Surendranath Panigrahi.
During the raids, the sleuths have seized several bank pass books, savings instruments and some incriminating documents from his possession, sources added.
