Cuttack, Sept 24:
The Odisha High Court today asked the counsel for the arrested former advocate general Ashok Mohanty to move the Khordha district sessions court for bail and directed the CBI to submit the case diary by the first half tomorrow.
The High Court, while hearing Mohanty’s bail plea today, directed the district sessions court in Bhubaneswar to take up the matter in the first half tomorrow.
The court also issued a direction to the Special CBI CJM court to hand over the necessary records and papers related to Mohanty’s arrest by the first half on Friday.
It may be noted here that the Odisha High Court Bar Association is on a two-day cease-work agitation since yesterday in protest against the ‘unjustified’ arrest of the former advocate general by the CBI, in connection with its probe on the mega chit fund scam in the state.
Mohanty’s bail plea was rejected by the Special CBI CJM court in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
