Cuttack, Oct 16:
Keeping the interim relief granted to former government chief whip and BJD MLA from Banki Pravat Tripathy in force, the Odisha High Court today completed the hearing and kept the verdict reserved over his anticipatory bail plea.
The court, while deferring the hearing in the matter thrice, had extended interim relief to Tripathy from arrest by the CBI over his alleged complicity in the mega chit fund scam.
The CBI had submitted Tripathy’s voice test report, transcript of the phone chat he had with the AT Group chief and the case diary to the High Court on Tuesday.
It may be noted on September 30, the High Court had granted Tripathy interim relief from arrest over his links with the Artha Tatwa Group’s financial fraud, till October 13.
While granting interim relief to Tripathy, the court had asked the CBI to submit the forensic lab report of the voice test that sought to match his voice in a recorded phone conversation with AT group chief Pradip Sethy with the voice recorded by the CBI during his interrogation.
Tripathy, whose house was raided in August by the CBI in connection with its probe into the chit fund scam, had moved the High Court on September 15 seeking anticipatory bail, apprehending that the Central agency may arrest him anytime.
