Sambalpur, Mar 16:
The Sambalpur District Lawyers’ Bar Association has decided to postpone its ongoing agitation demanding a permanent bench of the Odisha High Court till the conclusion of the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Odisha.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the Central Action Committee (CAC) presided over by the president of the Association Krushna Chandra Babu here on Saturday evening.
“The meeting decided to stage cease-work for three days in the last week of March and April. However, the lawyers on duty would wear black badges as a mark of protest”, said CAC secretary Niranjan Tripathy in a release.
Terming the statement of the deputy registrar of the Odisha High Court in response to the report of the Sambalpur district judge on the issue of a permanent High Court bench as biased and contrary to the interest of the Western Odisha, the Committee warned against any lop-sided decision or action and vowed to continue its fight against imperialistic and exploitive attitude of the government to safeguard the interest of the Western Odisha people.
