The Odisha government has decided to transfer the control of six hospitals and dispensaries presently under the control of Water Resources department to the Health and Family Welfare department for better functioning and management of these hospitals in the state.
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Health secretary on Wednesday.
The six hospitals in the state which are to be handed over to the Health department are UIP hospital in Khatiguda in Nabarangpur district, Moran hospital in Koraput district, UIP hospital, Mukhiguda in Kalahandi district, the Rengali and Samal hospitals in Angul district and the Rengali hospital in Deogarh district, said an official in the health department.
A joint verification team consisting of officials of the two departments has been constituted for carrying out a survey to ascertain the existing infrastructure and manpower in these hospitals and recommend if they are fit for upgradation to PHC/CHC or sub-centre, the official said.
The team has been asked to submit its report by July 10, 2014, he added.
