Bhubaneswar, Mar 24:
Odisha government has decided to implement the Central government’s guidelines for admission into MBBS and BDS courses in private medical colleges and deemed universities.
In this regard, the health department has informed the Skill Development & Technical Education department.
As per the central government’s guidelines, the state government will conduct counseling for filling 85% seats in private medical colleges and deemed universities from the academic session 2017-18. The college authorities will conduct counseling for only 15% seats instead of 100% seats for admission into courses.
The counseling will be made for admission into MBBS and BDS courses in both private, government medical colleges and deemed universities.
“We are bound to implement the Centre’s guidelines for admission into courses in medical colleges. We have decided to follow the instruction accordingly in consultation with the Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET)”, Health Additional Secretary Surjit Das said.
The common counseling system will be implemented from this academic session for admission into MBBS and BDS courses in the medical colleges. The seats will be filled on the basis of national level examination ranks.
“The clarification required over the issues for admission into the courses will be taken from the government. We will inform the students accordingly”, said OJEE Chairman Tushar Nath.
However, the fee structure for admission is yet to be decided.
