Bhubaneswar, Sep 3:
The Odisha government’s Law department will examine the issue of allotment of 14 acres of land to Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), Vishal Dev, CMD Idco and secretary Industries department said here today.
The decision was taken at the High Level Land Acquisition committee meeting chaired by the state chief secretary G C Pati, Dev said.
“It was decided to refer the allotment of 14 acres of land to KIIT to the Law department since a controversy has cropped up in the matter. The ACS Revenue had asked to place the matter again since a controversy had erupted over it”, Dev told reporters after the meeting.
It may be noted that allotment of the 14 acres of land to the KIIT Group by IDCO on June 18 this year was raked up by the BJP’s senior leader Bijoy Mohapatra at a press meet on August 19.
Mohapatra had alleged that the first thing chief minister Naveen Patnaik did after assuming office on May 21 was to regularise 14 acres of land which was under the unauthorized occupation of KIIT.
A decision to regularise the land in favour of the institution was recommended by a high level committee headed by Chief Secretary on June 18, Mohapatra had alleged.
The issue had also figured in the CAG report which was presented in the Odisha Assembly on June 23.
