Bhubaneswar, Sep 11:

In keeping with its new found fetish for naming every government scheme after former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik, the Odisha government on Thursday announced the renaming of what was so far known as the ‘Mo Kudia Yojana’ as ‘Biju Pucca Ghara Yojana’.

Making the announcement today, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said the ‘new’ scheme would be in fulfillment of the promise that his government had made to the people before the last elections.

“The old ‘Mo Kudia Yojana’ would be subsumed into the new expanded scheme, which will be known as ‘Biju Pucca Ghara Yojana’ now,” he said.

The allocation for the scheme would be ‘substantially enhanced’ from the present Rs 330 crores to about Rs 3, 000 crores annually in a phased manner, the Chief Minister said.

The houses to be given to the people under the scheme would be recorded in the name of the women in the family, he said.
