Bhubaneswar, Sept 1:
The Odisha government would conduct a probe into the allotment of government land for hospitals and nursing homes in the state, a senior official said here today.
Talking to the media today, special secretary, General Administration (GA), Nitin Chandra said the GA department and the Health department would conduct a joint probe into the allotment of government land.
“The GA department would serve show cause notices to those who have misused these lands by building private houses on them. Appropriate action would be taken these erring persons if they were found guilty”, Chandra added.
It may be mentioned here, that in at least thirteen cases, the allottees of land meant for hospitals and nursing homes have been used for other purposes. The matter has put the state Revenue minister Bijayshree Routray in the eye of a storm after it was found out that the land allotted to his doctor wife was converted into the private residence of the minister.
The minister Routray has said the clinic run by his wife did not do any business and the building that had come up on the plot was later became his residence. He also said he did not own any residential plot in the state capital.
The opposition parties are demanding the government take back the plot ‘misused’ by the minister and his wife.
