Odisha Government plans to set up a dedicated pharmaceutical cluster in the industrial areas around Bhubaneswar.
Detailing out on this plan with members of Pharmaceutical Council of India (PCI), Odisha Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi on Monday said that the government has invited National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) to establish its campus in the state.
Besides, Odisha Government is taking other necessary measures such as encouraging establishment of pharmaceutical industries, strengthening the sector and capacity building of pharmacists among others, he added.
Speaking to the PCI delegate, Industries Secretary Sanjeeb Chopra informed about the facilities and incentives on offer for setting up pharmaceutical production units along with research and development activities.
“Provisions have been made for allotment of land under subsidised rate, capital grant to support quality infrastructure, interest subsidy, quick and easy power supply, reimbursement of value added tax, reimbursement of entry tax, financial assistance for technical know-how, entrepreneurship development subsidy, environment protection infrastructure subsidy, subsidy for patent registration and quality certification,” said Chopra speaking to members of PCI.
“Besides, other supports like anchor tenant subsidy, land for worker’s hostel and capital subsidy for plant and machinery, online availability of the necessary clearances and certificates within stipulated time etc would also be available to the entrepreneurs coming up for establishment of new units,” he added.
Notably, in its Industrial Policy Resolution (IPR-2015) document, Odisha Government has mentioned pharmaceutical industry as a priority sector. Odisha Government has assured to facilitate all possible support to companies that set up employment intensive enterprises in the state.
