Addressing the consecration ceremony of goddess Bimala temple inside the Govardhan Peeth premises, the seer expressed his unhappiness over the style of governance and the attitude of politicians in the state.

“I must say this with regrets that Odisha Government has lost its direction. The attitude of representatives of people in the state is not up to mark either,” said the Shankaracharya.

“Religion should always stay above the governance. However, the State Government has taken over the administration of Shri Jagannath temple,” he added indirectly pointing to the Nabakalebara fiasco and the chariot climbing issues of the recent past.

He further criticized the current education system and said, “The main motive of current education system is to make money. There is no religious significance in it that once made India the greatest among the nations. Without spiritual knowledge, the social values have hit a rock bottom.”

Addressing the gathering, former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda said that there will peace, harmony and fraternity in the country if people are focussed on spirituality.

“If we want peace and development in this world, we must ensure that along with material development, there should be spiritual development as well,” said the former Prime Minister.
