At a high level review meeting at the Odisha Secretariat today, the chief secretary JK Mohapatra instructed a fast-track approach to the ongoing construction of road and railway line to Puri along with the development of parking spaces as part of the preparations ahead of the Nabakalebara festival to be held in June next year.
The chief secretary instructed all concerned departments to expedite all construction work and complete the projects within the scheduled time frame without fail, an official release said.
Mohapatra said the time line for completion of projects has been worked out against each project. The concerned administrative departments have been asked to monitor the weekly and monthly progress of the works at ground level, he added.
The project wise progress of road projects like Biramitrapur- Jankia, Gop-Balighai , Phulnakhara-Charichhak-Gop , Khordha- Pipili , Pipili-Konark , Biraharekrushnapur-Balukhand , Malatipur –Balukhand , Bhubaneswar-Puri NH, Puri bypass NH, doubling of Jatni-Puri Railway, modification of Puri station to handle large crowd, Khordha railway by pass were reviewed in the meeting. The meeting discussed bottlenecks identified by executing departments and necessary decisions were taken for removal of the bottlenecks, the release said.
The release said access roads from four-lane National Highway to various points in Puri town were also reviewed at the meeting. Besides, around 20 roads inside the town taken up for improvement were also discussed at the meeting.
The chief administrator of Sri Jagannath Temple, Arabinda Padhee raised the issue of peoples’ demand for protection of the drainage and sewerage systems while developing roads inside Puri town.
Development Commissioner Injeti Srinivas, present in the meeting, advised the Works department to construct the roads in consultation with the municipality.The progress regarding development of buffer parking place on both sides of the Bhubaneswar-Puri national highway and on the outskirts of Puri town was also reviewed in the meeting.
14 such places have already been identified and it will be handed over within a week, said collector Puri, who was also present in the meeting.
The chief secretary directed concerned departments to expedite construction of the bus stand at Malatipur with a weekly progress plan.
The principal secretary Home Vipin Kumar Saxena, RDC central Suresh Kumar Basistha along with several other high officials from Police, Railway, NHAI, Housing & Urban Development, Commerce & Transport and concerned departments participated in deliberations.
