The Odisha government today hiked the bus fare across the board as per automatic fare adjustment mechanism.
According to a notification issued by the Commerce and Transport department, the fare for ordinary and express buses has been increased by 1 paisa per kilometre and the fare for Deluxe and AC Deluxe category buses has been increased by 2 paise per kilometre.
With this, the fare of the ordinary buses has been increased to 58 paise per km from 57 paise per km, express buses to 61 paise from 60 paise per km, deluxe category to 80 paise per km from 78 paise, AC Deluxe buses to Rs 1.01 from 99 paise per km, the notification added.
Recently, the state government had, on March 19 this year, revised the bus fare under the automatic mechanism following the increase in diesel price.
It may be mentioned that the state government had announced the implementation of the automatic mechanism for revision of fares on June 4 last year as per the demand of the All Odisha Private Bus Owners’ Association (AOPBOA).
Under the automatic mechanism system, rise and fall in bus fares would be determined based on the rise and fall of fuel prices.
