Bowing down to the pressures from various management colleges, the Odisha government has gone for an upward revision of fee structure of private professional and technical institutions with effect from 2013-14 academic session.
The government has fixed fee structure for Post Graduate Diploma in Management Programme (PGDM), Master Dergee in Applied Management (MAM) and Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), said a notification of Employment and Technical Education and Training (ET&T) department.
The notification dated June 27 says, ” ln exercise of power conferred on Government under sub-section – 7 of section – 6 and other provisions of the Orissa Professional Educational lnstitutions (Regulation of Admission & Fixation of Fee) Act, 2007 and in pursuance to the recommendation of the Fee Structure Committee constituted in terms of interim order of Hon’ble Supreme Court dated 1tt June, 2007 in Special Leave Petition (Civil) No.(s) 10318, 10319, 10329 and 10330 of 2007, the Government have been pleased to prescribe the revised fee structure of the following Professional / Technical Colleges (PGDM, MAM, Ayurvedic Colleges) w.e.f. academic session 2013-14 .”
The fee structure committee, which revises the fees every three years on the basis of audited statement of the accounts of the colleges under the Odisha Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission and Fixation of Fee) Act, 2007, has fixed the fee structure.
While the fee structure for Regional College of Management has been fixed at Rs 1,01,000 per annum for PGDM course, Rs 60,000 has been fixed for DRIEMS Business school and Rajadhani College of Engineering and Management.
In MAM programme, the fee structure for Biju Patnaik Institute of Technology and Management Studies for MAM course is fixed at Rs 40,000 per annum for first three years of the course and Rs 50,000 for 4th and 5th year with effect from academic year 2013-14.
Similar fee structure has been fixed for Capital Institute of Management and Science, Rajadhani College of Engineering and Management, Srusti Academy of Management, NIIST International Institutte of Management.
However, the fee structure of NIIST will be effective from 2014-15 academic year.
The government has provisionally fixed the fee structure of BAMS course in Nrusinghnath Ayurved College and Research Institute, Paikmal, Bargarh at Rs 85,000 per annum with effect from 2013-14.
It is to be noted that Odisha Managament Colleges’ Association (OMCA) had urged the Directorate of Technical Education & Training (DTET) for early revision of the fee structure for the colleges offering MBA and MCA degrees.
The move comes after delay in fixation of fee by the directorate, even after the publication of notice for revision of students’ fee for private engineering colleges and professional colleges of Odisha for the academic session 2013-14.
