Odisha govt frees 250 acres from encroachment in Dharmasala

Following exclusive reports on encroachment of thousands of acres of government land in Jajpur district by some influential leaders and land mafia published in ‘Sambad’, the Odisha government has initiated measures to free these land from encroachment in Vyasanagar, Sukinda and Danagadi tehsils.

Jajpur collector Anil Kumar Samal said the district administration had evicted the encroachers from about 250 acres of land at Bichhakhandi, Chakradharpur, Anjira and Dankari areas under Dharmasala tehsil.

Besides, efforts are on to clear 1920 acres of encroached government land, he added.

Talking about the steps taken in this regard, Dharmasala tehsildar Ranjan Kumar Jena said while the eviction process is on, the Revenue department has begun work on bringing back about 2000 acres of government land under its possession by putting notice boards on these encroached lands.
