With the splitting of Plus II from the Higher Education department and its merger with the School and Mass Education department in Odisha, the state government has planned to constitute a separate directorate for Plus II education.
The Council for Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) will be converted to Directorate of Higher Secondary Education, informed sources in the School and Mass Education department.
As many as 1,455 Plus II colleges will come under the control of the new Directorate, the sources added.
“While a joint secretary has already been appointed, 48 officers including director and deputy directors will be appointed. Currently, teaching will continue with the existing infrastructure which will be changed in phases,” informed School and Mass Education Minister Debi Prasad Mishra here today.
“Currently, teachers under the Higher Education department will be in deployment to teach Plus II students. Later 1,023 Post Graduate Teacher (PGTs) will be appointed. Following the appointment of PGTs the teachers currently teaching Plus II students will be reverted back to the Higher Education department,” he added.
A joint meeting of the departments of Higher Education and School and Mass Education will be held in the first week of June to finalize on the structure of the new directorate. The new directorate will be functional from July.
