Cuttack, July 21:
The High Court today issued an interim order directing BPUT and OJEE authorities to bring out advertisements mentioning that the validity of enhanced B Tech seats in government colleges in Odisha are subject to the outcome of the court decision on the main writ petition filed by private engineering colleges in the state.
In its interim order, a division bench of the High Court comprising Justices Indrajit Mahanti and D P Choudhury said that this court had passed a previous interim order on June 30, 2015 stating that the six government engineering colleges of the state have enhanced their B Tech seats for the 2015-16 academic session, pending approval from AICTE.
The Court observed that any action taken shall be subjected to the writ petition and this ought to be brought to the notice of the aspiring students.
The court made the observation on being informed that these colleges are admitting students against the unapproved enhanced seats through OJEE.
Six government engineering colleges have enhanced their intake for B Tech courses this year by over 600 seats, sources in the government said.
The Odisha Private Engineering College Association (OPECA) had challenged the validity of the enhanced seats in the government engineering colleges in the High Court on the ground that these enhanced seats have not got AICTE approval.
