The Odisha government today directed the concerned departments to remove roadblocks on the setting up various industrial projects in the state, including several mega steel projects.
In a review meeting, chief secretary GC Pati directed the concerned departments to expedite the process of pending issues like land acquisition and grant of various clearances.
The review meeting was a follow up on the decisions taken at the Project Monitoring Group (PMG) meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Infrastructural (CCI) Projects, which was chaired by Anil Swarup, Additional Secretary in the Cabinet secretariat on September 5 this year, said sources in the steel and mines department.
According to these sources, the chief secretary directed the steel and mines department to coordinate with IDCO and Posco India to resolve the issue of land transfer to the company for the mega steel project proposed to be set up in Jagatsinghpur.
It is to be noted that Posco is yet to pay Rs 54.22 crore towards the lease value of 2193.52 acres of land. As a result, the proposal for the transfer of the balance land of 1048.52 acre to Posco has lapsed.
Besides, the meeting also discussed other projects, including steel and power projects, railway projects and road projects.
Issues relating to forest diversion, forest clearances, environmental clearance, permissive possession, possession of acquired land, tree cutting, material linkage and power supply were also discussed at today’s meeting.
