Bhubaneswar, Jan 22:
The Odisha government has convened a consultative meeting on January 27 to decide on the contours of the annual budget for the 2015-16 financial year to be presented in the state Assembly on February 16.
“We have decided to invite all the parties to the pre-budget consultative meeting that would be held in two phases after which the budget would be given a final shape,” Finance minister Pradip Amat said here today.
Amat said the Finance department had asked the Planning and Coordination department to expedite the submission of budget requirements of departments, which have done so yet.
“We will take a decision after we receive the reports from the Planning and Coordination department,” he added.
“While the state is presently hit by acute financial crisis, lack of adequate financial assistance from the Centre has become a major road block in the development of the state. However, it would not affect the size of the state budget as the state government has been making efforts to generate funds from various sources,” the Finance minister said.
