Bhubaneswar, Dec 13:
Odisha government is conspiring to scuttle the farmer’s convention here tomorrow by arresting scores of members at various places across the state, alleged the convenor of Navanirman Krushak Sangathan (NKS) Soumya Ranjan Patnaik.
“Odisha government is trying its level best to ruin the farmers’s meeting to be held tomorrow. While police have arrested two prominent farmers’ leaders – Akshay Kumar and Sesadev Nanda – tomorrow, hundreds of members have been arrested or detained across the state so as to prevent them from joining the convention. Despite police’s oppressive action, we would go ahead with our plans and conduct the conference tomorrow,” Soumya Ranjan Patnaik thundered.
“The act of Naveen Patnaik’s government won’t be tolerated. Naveen has lost all that he had earned in the last 16 years with this deed (16 Barsa ra Tapasya Sukhua Poda re Gala). Befitting reply would be given to him at appropriate time,” Patnaik said.
It may be mentioned here that hundreds of farmers were detained at different places across the state citing law and order reason.
According to reports, around 30 peasants were detained at Cuttack railway station who had boarded Barbil-Puri Express train to Bhubaneswar. An equal number of farmers were detained in Keonjhar and around 20 in Jajpur.
