Bhubaneswar, Feb 24:
Bowing to the demand of the people of Mayurbhanj, the Odisha government today announced the decision to set up a medical college in the district.
Making an announcement to this effect at the State Secretariat here, chief minister Naveen Patnaik said the state government would set up the proposed medical college from its own resources.
Mayurbhanj, it may be noted, had observed a near total 12-hour bandh today in protest against its bypassing by the Central government while announcing three more medical colleges in Odisha. The three new medical colleges will be set up in Balasore, Bolangir and Koraput, the Union government had announced recently.
The bandh call was given by the Jharkhand Mukti Mmorcha (JMM) and supported by the BJP and a host of organisations like the the district lawyers’ association and Bhanja Sena.
