Satyam Sekhar Raul, foster son of controversial godman Srimad Sarathi Baba alias Santosh Raul finally walked out of Choudwar circle jail this evening after being lodged there for about three months.
Satyam was released from the jail after furnishing two bail bonds of Rs 50,000 and an undertaking to the court through his lawyer not to indulge in similar crimes as per conditions imposed by the SDJM court, Cuttack for his bail.
The Orissa High Court had on Wednesday had granted conditional bail to Satyam.
Justice C. R. Dash while allowing the bail application of Satyam asked him to cooperate with the prosecution, meet the investigating officer once in every fortnight till the end of his trial and not to go outside the state without the permission of the Investigating Officer (IO) in the case.
The High Court had also directed the SDJM court to allow Satyam to go on bail after execution of necessary bail bonds etc. as applicable in the case.
His bail applications were earlier rejected twice by two separate lower courts.
Crime Branch police in August this year had arrested Satyam from Mumbai on charges of cheating related offences and receiving stolen properties.
Having no known sources of income, Satyam had a bank balance of Rs 25 lakh, he had paid around Rs 20 lakh to three of his friends to facilitate his escape to outside the state evading arrest after his father was arrested in the first week of August.
Similarly, Satyam was also booked under section 423 and 467 of IPC for making a sale deed of only Rs 55 lakh after purchasing a flat in Bhubaneswar costing Rs 1.15 crore. The under-valuation of property during registration had caused pecuniary loss to the state exchequer, the Crime Branch police have alleged.
