Q. How was your 6-month journey with ‘Dil Hai Hindustani’?
Barnali: Definitely, it was a different experience working with Euphony band. Working in the international platform from Odisha has brought a lot of confidence in me. Although, we earned the runners up title; it is like winning the champion trophy.
Q. People of Odisha were expecting big from you. You also did not make them disappointed. Do you think yet there was any lacking?
Barnali: We are here only because of huge support we received from Odisha people. However, some people did not vote for us thinking about the benefit they will receive. I was hurt a bit, but was not broken at all. I must appreciate the way Oman government urged their people to vote for Haitam (winner of the show).
Q. When you begin something, always speak ‘Jay Jagannath’. Whom you will give the entire credit for your victory?
Barnali: First of all, I would definitely give credit to Lord Jagannath for the success. Then, Odisha people, my music guru Basant Patra and Shantilata Patra. And I have reached the position due to my parents support.
Q. From ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champ’ to ‘Dil Hai Hindustani’. What is your next target?
Barnali: Now, I have no interest to participate in any reality show any more. Yet, I would try to take part in America’s Got Talent’ with Euphony as we have done experiments on western music. If get opportunity, I would like to set a new trend in Odia music industry on beat boxing music, what I have learnt during my last six months journey in ‘Di Hai Hindustani’.
Q. What would you like to give message to those who want to participate in the national level reality shows like you?
Barnali: I would simply say them to keep practicing. Music does not mean that we would hold a particular method tightly. There should not be any boundary in music. A singer should achieve the skill of singing varieties of songs.
Q. The most memorable moment in ‘Dil Hai Hindustani’?
Barnali: When Karan Johar showed me the path to enter into the competition by presenting me a golden disk. Secondly, after I performed the song, voiced by Rekha Bhardwaj, who is known as the god in the world of music, and the judges made comment that I have sung nicely than Rekha. It would be memorable moment for me forever.
Q. Had the social media major role behind your success?
Barnali: Definitely, because Rituraj Mohanty, Smriti Mishra, and the budding singers of Marathi music industry had appealed to vote for me by uploading videos on the social media. The Media also had played a significant role to make me win in the show.
Q.What would you say about Euphony-Barnali group?
Barnali: I am missing my group after six months of practice and experiments. I have got major support from band’s senior Sanish Nair and Beatboxer Bhavesh Sharma.
Q. You had performed some Odia songs in a very different style in the show. How was the reaction of the judges?
Barnali: As the Rangabati remix by Sona Mohapatra and Rituraj Mohanty received mixed reaction, we had a little bit fear when we thought about Odia song fusion. But, Karan Johar lauded the fusion. He said that Odia songs are beautiful and he would love to take Odia songs in his upcoming film.
