Bhubaneswar, Nov 3:
Odisha Government today announced formation of yet another team of experts to study the pattern of the Japanese Encephalitis outbreak in the state and come up with a solution.
The six member team of experts – all known names in Japanese Encephalitis – is being led by Professor Jacob Jones.
Some of the members of this team are likely to visit Malkangiri tomorrow, said a source in the Health Department.
“The government now understands the Japanese Encephalitis situation in Malkangiri and across Odisha. A special team has been formed. All the doctors have been involved in treating Japanese Encephalitis at various states of the country,” said Joint Director of NVBDCP Madanmohan Pradhan.
“We are trying to understand the difference between the occurrences in other states and in Odisha. This will help us understand the issue better and address the challenge,” he added.
The government has also decided to vaccinate 26 lakh children across Malkangiri, Jajpur, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts in December this year.
It may be noted that Japanese Encephalitis has claimed as many as 87 lives in past 56 days in Malkangiri district.
