Odisha Excise official held for using fake caste certificate to get job

Phulbani, June 15:

The police in Tikabali in Odisha’s Kandhamal district arrested an Excise inspector on the charge of submitting a fake caste certificate to earn his job.

Identified as Paula Digal, of Tikalamendi village under Beheragan panchayat in Odisha’s Kandhamal district, the official is currently posted as Excise Inspector in Bhubaneswar, police said.

It may be mentioned here that investigations into 939 fake certificate cases in Kandhamal district are underway following an order of the director, SC and SC Development department.

The police have so far framed charge-sheets in 28 fake certificate cases and arrested 29 persons. 13 of them have been dismissed from their services, District Welfare Officer Paramananda Prusty said.

Kui Samaj Samanwaya Samiti (KSSS), a powerful local tribal outfit, has been demanding the dismissal of all those who have managed to get government jobs by producing fake certificates claiming tribal status.
