Odisha ends 3rd in East Zone Jr Athletic Championship

Odisha came third in the 26th East Zone Junior Athletic Championship adding 30 more medals, including 12 gold, to its kitty on the second and concluding day of the 26th East Zone Junior Athletic Championship at NS NIS Eastern Centre Ground in Kolkata today.

The state team bagged 12 gold, 11 silver and 7 bronze medals on the concluding day taking the overall medal tally to 54 with 391 points.

The West Bengal team emerged champions with 699 points while Jharkhand came second with 397 points.

The gold medal winners on the final day are, Chinmay Jena (Javelin), Biswaranjan Mohanty, (100 metre), Jyosna Sabar (100 metre), Tapati Sahoo (100 metre), Salmi Kispotta (Discus), Jasmi Kisku (Heptathlon), Sekunta Kullu (100 metre), Latika Basra (Triple Jump), Damayanti Murmu (Javelin), Rajeswari Bhoi (Heptathlon), Samsad Ara Begum (5000 metre), Krishna Munda (Medlay Relay) and Manki Sundhi, Satyabrata Behera, Binkas Barwa (Medley Relay).

The silver medalists are, Suresh Behera (High Jump), Sukdeb Mohanty, (Triple Jump), Nelson Tete (100 metre), Kishore Kumar Jena (Javelin), Raibari Tiria (Pentathlon), Subharee Bhuyan (Triple Jump), Purnima Hembram (Shotput), Sangita Tirkey (Javelin), Rajat Kumar Mohanty (Shotput), Latika Basra, Sekunta Kullu, Saraswati Chattar and Reema Mohanty (Medlay Relay), Rajeswari Bhoi, Surasmita Bagar, Mitali Mallik and Sushita Kisan (4×100 metre Relay).

The bronze medalists are, Dipak Lakra (100 metre), Sukdeb Mohanty (110 metre Hurdles), Sabita Hembram (100 metre), Ankita Lakra (Javelin), Shweta Patel (Discus), Sushita Kisan (Heptathlon), Tapati Sahoo, Sanjukta Mallik, Puspa Rani Jena and Monika Barwa (Medlay Relay)
