Bhubaneswar: Founder of Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) University and Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), Dr. Achyuta Samanta was yesterday conferred with national award for child welfare on the occasion of Children’s Day.
Samanta received the award from President Ram Nath Kovind at the National Child Awards-2017 in New Delhi.
The award is given to deserving institutions and individuals for their outstanding performance in the field of child development and welfare. It carries a cash prize of Rs 3 lakh and a citation for each institution and Rs one lakh and a citation for each individual.
The National Child Awards are given to celebrate the exceptional achievements of children as well as to individuals and institutions who work for child welfare.
Worth mentioning, KISS has become the largest residential tribal institute in the world and is home for 35,000 tribal children (25,000 pursuing education and 10,000 passed out).
At KISS, they are provided with holistic education from kindergarten to post-graduation along with lodging, boarding, healthcare facilities besides vocational and life skill empowerment.
