Nayagarh: In a bizarre incident, an eatery owner sustained critical burn injuries after a customer of the shop threw hot oil at him in Odisha’s Nayagarh district today.

According to reports, Krushna Chandra Sahu, the victim and proprietor of the eatery located at Bakalabandha Chhak under Sadar police limits here, was asked by Jugala Barad to give the latter tea this morning.

Due to rush of customers at the shop, there was delay on the part of Sahu in serving tea to Jugala. Being infuriated over the act, Jugala vandalized the eatery and later splashed hot oil meant for frying snacks at Sahu’s body.

The eatery owner sustained 45 per cent burn injuries and was admitted to the district headquarters hospital. He was later shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for better treatment.

Police have detained Jugala for questioning in connection with the incident.
