Vigilance sleuths today arrested a doctor on charges of accepting bribe from the kin of a patient admitted to VIMSAR in Odisha’s Burla.
According to reports, Govinda Duan was admitted to the hospital on Nov 20 for hydrocele operation. He underwent operation on Nov 25 and was to be discharged after recovery. The accused doctor Saroj Kumar Sethi allegedly sought Rs 10, 000 from the complainant Charan Bhoi to discharge his brother-in-law from the hospital.
Based on the complaint, a trap was laid today and Sethi, an Associate Professor in Surgery department, was caught red-handed inside the out patient department.
The accused was arrested and forwarded to court. The residential quarter of Dr. Sethi, situated inside the premises of SCB, MC&H, Cuttack is being searched.
