Cuttack, Jun 15:
Odisha DGP K B Singh today suspended the then IIC of Nemala police station Jyoti Ranjan Gouda on charges of registering a case at the police station for making false motor vehicle accident insurance claim.
Singh ordered for Gouda’s suspension following finding of credible evidence against him.
A mini truck had met with an accident in Nemala area on February 27 this year.
According to Police headquarters sources, while three persons aboard the mini truck had sustained minor injuries in the accident, in order to claim damages from the insurance company Gouda had registered a false case that the persons had sustained grievous injuries.
Gouda in collaboration with Dr R K Nayak of Salepur Public Health Centre (PHC) prepared a false injury report.
However, the matter came to light after investigating officer of the case sub-inspector Jayshree Ojha of Nemala police station came across the irregularities and reported the matter to higher officials.
Under orders from the superintendent of police, a case in the matter was registered against three including Dr Nayak and lawyer Saroj Nayak at Nemala police station.
