Bhubaneswar, Jun 24:
Two days after the Vigilance sleuths arrested the former senior stenographer of SC & ST Protection Cell, HRPC, Cuttack, Odisha DGP KB Singh today placed Prachet Kumar Mishra under suspension in the case pertaining to the Rs 88 lakh scam.
Mishra, who is currently posted as Signal Officer in Cuttack, is one of the five police personnel arrested two days ago for their complicity in the scam in procuring computers for training purposes of SC/ST students and members of self help groups (SHGs).
However, a Tripura cadre IPS officer Joydeep Nayak, who was on deputation to Odisha till December 2015, is yet to be traced as he is said to be the prime accused in the case.
During his tenure as the IG of SC & ST Protection Cell, HRPC, the scam allegedly took place in connivance with the staff of the department and private players.
According to reports, Nayak had undergone a ligament surgery on his leg at the Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi and has been discharged from the hospital on Wednesday.
