Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who attended the security review meeting of Maoist-affected states chaired by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi today, has demanded two additional battalions of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) to the state for anti-Maoist operations.
Patnaik has also demanded installation of 518 mobile towers in Maoist-hit districts of Odisha and Rs 142 crore for the Gurupriya bridge, reports said.
The Chief Minister also urged the Centre for inclusion of Kalahandi district in the category of worst Maoist-affected districts and Angul, Boudh and Sonepur in the list of Mao-infested districts.
“I urged upon the Home Minister to provide two additional battalions of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) to Odisha immediately to undertake effective counter measures against extremism in Chhatisgarh, Andhra and Odisha with proper synergy and to include Kalahandi district in the category of worst affected districts,” he said.
