Odisha Crime Branch police Sunday traced 10 more bank accounts of self-proclaimed god man Srimad Sarathi alias Santosh Raula with deposits amounting to Rs 17 lakhs.
With the unearthing of these bank accounts, the total number of bank accounts of Srimad Sarathi traced so far by the Crime Branch reached 33 with deposits totalling Rs 2.72 crore, Crime Branch sources said.
Earlier, 23 bank accounts of Sarathi were traced with deposits totalling Rs 2.55 crore.
Crime Branch sources said it has begun its investigations into the fresh FIR filed by medico, who had accompanied Sarathi to Hyderabad and had stayed at Golconda Hotel with him. The Crime Branch has already secured the call details of the medico and has begun analyzing them.
A three-member team of the Crime Branch police will leave for Hyderabad today to verify details of the stay of Sarathi and the medico there and other clues that it got during its interrogation of different witnesses and Sarathi here.
Another Crime Branch team will verify ashram records to find out the number of times the medico went there.
Meanwhile, the woman at the centre of attention in the case has made the sensational revelation that the Baba used to hypnotize many of the women who went to the ashram.
“Several girls used to visit the ashram; the Baba used to hypnotize them. There is a woman named Barsha in the ashram who the Baba never allowed anyone to speak to. She has left her husband to stay with Sarathi,” the woman told News 7, the channel that broke the story about the Baba, in a recorded conversation.
The woman said it was her hostel mate Smrutipragyaan who first took her to the ashram. The Baba used to visit the hostel and regularly speak to her over phone and would threaten her, she said.
