The Odisha Crime Branch police would start the interrogation of Sura Baba alias Surendra Mishra, head of Trahi Achyuta ashram at Jhiinti Sasan, and his two sons, from today.
It may be mentioned that the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) court on Tuesday had allowed the commissionerate police to take Sura Baba and his two sons on a three-day remand for interrogation.
But as chief minister Naveen Patnaik on the same day had ordered a Crime Branch probe into the incident, the cases will be automatically transferred to the Crime Branch.
While the commissionerate police has registered four cases against Sura Baba and his two sons, the Crime Branch has planned to register some more cases relating to land grab and financial transaction. The state investigating agency would probe as to how Sura Baba could be the owner of such huge properties, from which sources he was receiving the money, where and through whom the money was invested
As informed by the Crime Branch ADG BK Sharma, four special teams have been formed in the initial stage to probe into different angles of the case.
Each team will Keeping the dimension of the probe, the number of team would be increased, if required, Sharma said. have an additional SP, a DSP and 16 staff.
Sources in the Crime Branch said some teams are likely to visit the Jhiinti Trahi Achyuta ashram today for an on-the-spot investigation while another team would bring Sura Baba and his two sons to the Crime Branch office for interrogation.
It is not yet known whether the trio would be taken to the Crime Branch headquarters at Cuttack or to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) office at the state capital for interrogation.
