The Crime Branch police are investigating into the involvement of Panda in the attack on Galeri outpost and encounter with the police inside the forest in Gasma in Ganjam district in 2008 in which two policemen were killed.

Police later had registered two cases at the Tarasingh police station.

In connection with these two cases, police produced Panda in the court of SDJM Manoranjan Das on Friday.

The court has fixed the next hearing on September 18.

Later in the day, the Crime Branch police, investigating these two cases, submitted a petition to the court requesting to take Panda on remand for interrogation.

The court would take a decision on the plea today.

However, objecting to the Crime Branch petition, Panda’s lawyer Biren Tripathy said he would submit a petition to the court on behalf of his client today.

Apart from Panda, police also produced Sangram Mohanty before the court of Additional District Judge on Friday. Mohantty was arrested on the charge of supplying arms to the Maoists, involvement in the torching of mobile towers at Gothagouda, Barada and Talapatna under Badagada and Soroda police station limits.

The police also produced another co-accused K Anita before the court.
