The Additional District Judge (ADJ) Court here in the Odisha capital today rejected the bail plea of Dr. Motilal Gouda, the suspended assistant director of Directorate of Factories and Boilers, who is the prime accused in the fake gazette notification scam.
The ADJ rejected Dr. Gouda’s bail plea terming his act as anti-state, sources said.
Dr. Gouda is currently lodged in the Jharpada Special Jail.
In a related development, Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch today quizzed Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD) former vice-president Prakash Jena in connection with the fake gazette notification scam.
According to Crime Branch sources, it had evidence that an amount of Rs 4 lakh was transferred to Prakash’s bank account.
Prakash was BCJD’s vice-president in 2008, sources said.
“I have been working with ‘Surakshya Lifeline’ as an assistant manager for the last 4-5 years. The Crime Branch had summoned me in connection with a case. They had asked me for some documents. I have handed over those documents to them,” said Prakash speaking to reporters.
