Odisha Council of Ministers will meet today to discuss important issues related to the state budget to be presented on March 15.
The meeting to discuss draft budget will put emphasis on agriculture and panchayat related matters. On March 15, finance minister Pradeep Amat will present state budget for the economic year 2016-2017 in the Odisha assembly.
This year, the Odisha government has decided to bring the state budget after the Union budget.
After the Union budget has introduced cess on for agriculture development and farmers welfare, the state might follow suit, according to reports.
While the budget was Rs 85,000 crore last year, this year the focus areas will be agriculture, irrigation, infrastructure and rural development. The budget is estimated to be around Rs 1 lakh crore, according to sources.
