The temple authorities had filed complaint against two security personnel at the local police station who were on on duty at the time of the loot in the wee hours on Thursday.

Acting on the complaint, Dhusuri police launched an investigation into the case and arrested three persons for their alleged involvement in the case. The trio will be forwarded to court today.

Police recovered gold, a naga (holy metal snake) and Rs 12, 000 from their possession.

“We have arrested three persons for their alleged involvement in the loot of the temple hundi. They will be produced before the court today,” Dhusuri police station IIC Bhalu Munda said.

Notably, over Rs 4 lakh cash and jewellery had been allegedly looted from the donation box between 1 am and 4 am in the wee hours on Thursday.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the robbers jumped the wall of the Shaivite shrine, broke the lock of the South Gate of the temple and entered into it.

While three persons were arrested today, two others are still at large, sources said.
