Odisha cops arrest MBA grad in ITER fake placement row

Bhubaneswar: Twin City Commissionerate Police have arrested the third accused in fake placement controversy at Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) University in the Odisha capital, taking the number of arrests in the case to three.

Twin City Commissionerate of Police YB Khurania today held a press conference at the Board Room of the Commissionerate Police office here where he told media that the third accused in the ITER fake placement – Vikash Lunayach – has been arrested from Gurugram.

“Several people are involved in the scam. They have executed their plan in a well-planned manner. We have identified other accused and search is on to nab them,” Khurania said.

Revealing further, Khurania said that Vikash – an MBA graduate – had visited Bhubaneswar on five occasions to coordinate with others involved during placement time.

The fake recruiters conducted the drive on behalf of Huawei Technologies, Supertech Global, IRCON Construction, and Toshiba TTDI, the top cop added.

After completing his master’s degree, Vikash couldn’t fetch a job and was staying as a paying guest in Gurugram where he reportedly came in contact with the recruiters.

Worth mentioning, Vikash was arrested on Tuesday from Gurugram and was brought to the city here on a transit remand. The accused was forwarded to court today where the cops prayed before it to take him on a three-day remand for further investigation into the case.

The court allowed Khandagiri police to take the accused on three-day remand.
