The Orissa High Court has granted conditional bail to Chaudakulat police outpost in-charge of Kendrapada district Mahendra Behera in the alleged sodomy case.


A single-member bench of the High Court comprising of Justice J P Das after conducting a hearing on Behera’s bail plea directed Pattamundai Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) to grant bail to the accused against a surety of Rs 15,000.

According to the case records, Behera on the night of August 3, this year had allegedly committed sodomy with homeguard Pravat Kumar Patra.

Behera was arrested by the police after Patra had registered a FIR at Pattamundai police station alleging that the former had forcibly committed unnatural sex with him.
