Bhubaneswar, Oct 2:
In the run-up to panchayat polls scheduled to be held in February 2017, Odisha unit of Congress today started a campaign to identify key issues and prepare the party manifesto based on public opinion.
“Congress will offer a people’s manifesto for the panchayat polls based on hopes, aspirations and suggestions of the public,” said PCC President Prasad Harichandan.
He added that the party will approach all the sections of the society and seek their inputs to prepare a manifesto that will represent their issues and vision for the state.
Voters can submit their ideas over mail and email over the next 10 days, said Odisha Congress Spokesperson Sulochana Das speaking to reporters today.
“Congress always believes in transparent, accountable and people friendly panchayati raj system. We have started gathering public opinion to transform our belief into reality. We will lay focus on what they have to say. This is crucial for us. We seek their cooperation in this context,” said Das.
“We will collect their opinion to find out what they expect from the panchayati raj system and what role congress should play in it. We will base our panchayat election manifesto based on their suggestions. We will reach out to party workers and people living in rural areas for this exercise,” she added.
