Bhubaneswar, May 4:
Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Prasad Harichandan today raked up the CBI questioning of Saroj Sahu in connection with chit fund scam and alleged that BJD struck a deal with CBI to divert the investigations after it reached the doorsteps of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
“We all know that the CBI grilled Saroj Sahu, however, no one knows what happened to the investigation. He has not even been named in the chargesheet. Why did the CBI let him off? What was the deal? If his questioning was a direct indication of involvement of the Chief Minister, why is Naveen silent? We want an explanation,” said Harichandan addressing a press conference in Bhubaneswar today.
BJD, on the other hand, attempted to link this issue to the ongoing deadlock between BJD and Congress over Narasingha Mishra’s questions to the Chief Minister yesterday where he asked Patnaik to explain if his party received Rs 8 crore from chit fund accused executives.
“The first and most important thing is, CBI is still investigating the chit fund scam. I am not sure, if Prasad Harichandan is really unsure about the investigation or if he is trying to cover the Leader of Opposition who is under fire for his remarks,” said BJD Spokesperson Pratap Deb.
